Finding Something to Smile About in the Absurdity of Life, Jody Shell

And Still He Waits is from my Covid-19 Wacky Images Series. In the early days of quarantine it felt as if people were trying to make sense of what was happening. Many fixated on the crazy “toilet paper dilemma,” instead of acknowledging the seriousness of the virus. This piece depicts a figure focused on toilet tissue while the Bird of Death looks on intently. The article collaged into the picture on the upper left, above and behind the woman, is a calendar page from when the 2020 pandemic began. Sometimes my way to handle the absurdity of life is to find something to smile about.
