Where Two Stories Meet, poem by Cecily Markham & Carried on the Wind, photograph by Jada Griffin
In this time of physical isolation, many of us seem to be recognizing anew the importance of the experience of touch. As we yearn for sensual connection, friendship becomes increasingly meaningful. I was thinking about some words written by Anaïs Nin, " Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born." When this image poem from Cecily Markham reached me, as if carried to me on the wind, it felt like perfect synergy.
Where two stories meet
two lives crossing
calling stories here . . . across the breadth of a heartland
voices creating space, an aeolian wilderness
a visitation, more immediate than time
