Dance Anyway, Victoria L. Kempf, abstract painter & photographer - Fort Collins, Colorado
"When I began painting this picture, I was feeling very negative. The large figure seemed symbolic of several severe and disapproving women from my childhood. I was considering giving the piece a title such as, "Under the Weight of her Stare." Meanwhile, the shelter-in-place directives due to the Covid-19 virus were increasing and, because I am a person of a certain age, I stayed indoors, becoming increasingly anxious. Then something made me see the painting differently. Continuing to work on it, my perspective changed and the picture developed into a defiant "Dance Anyway." It's as if, during the process of creativity, I was receiving a message - even in difficult circumstances, even while under quarantine, in spite of it all - DANCE!"
Victoria L. Kempf has been an artist for over 10 years and is mostly self-taught except for a recent online, 3-year relationship with Nicholas Wilton's art2life As an intuitive, abstract painter and a photographer, Victoria loves to explore the relationship between order and chaos. Victoria says that one cannot exist without the other, and that excitement and the potential for something new being birthed is found when the two clash! Painting has now become Victoria's life.
